Whoever said that the best things in life are free, has had it wrong all along. The best things are not so much those fancy and expensive things; but are those that you can get at a discount. This is also true for gift giving. Although there is another aspect of gift giving that is probably more important.
Let's talk about this aspect first. A gift is something that has to be cherished. It doesn't have to be that expensive to be of value. The value of a gift is also in the perception of the one, who received it. But when we think of a gift, our aim is for that someone to remember us. He/she must remember us for what we have given. Off course, I wouldn't be shy to receive a brand new touch screen phone from someone I love. I wouldn't be sad either if I get a cool Blu-ray player this Christmas. I will sure remember anyone, who thinks I'm that important.
But seriously, going back to the second most important aspect of a gift. In my book, the best gifts around are not those too expensive. They just have to be discounted. If you compare a full priced bottle of the best red wine against a discounted priced one; there is no difference. The value is having the same quality wine for less. This is also true for anything, and for any occasion. Getting water globes on sale including angels, holidays, musical, anniversaries and memorials have no difference too. You can get all of these at a discount, and still get value in them. You'd still be remembered for these precious gifts.
